The Melting Pot (Boca Raton, Coral Springs, Lake Worth, Fort Lauderdale, Cooper City, Palm Beach Gardens, North Miami Beach, Miami)

The Melting Pot, 5455 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton, Florida 33487 (561) 997-7422.

Let’s start this review by saying…The Melting Pot is NOT my kind of restaurant. This “fondue” joint has 142 locations in 37 states including the 7 that I know about in South Florida. So…someone must like this type of “interactive dining” where you dip/ dunk chunks of meat/seafood/chicken and other stuff  in various melted cheeses, chocolate, hot oils etc….but it isn’t me. Personally, I just don’t get this kind of self-help eating… but there are probably loads of 7 and 8 year olds who will vehemently disagree with me.

If you are still interested in getting information about this joint… The Melting Pot’s website is  www.themeltingpot.com.

Maybe roasting a marshmellow or two at a summer-sleep away-camp…but sitting in a restauarnt dipping and dunking away…no thanks!

    Hello Jeff,

Thank you for trying us out and sorry that fondue is not for you! If you find yourself coming in again for any reason (maybe SHE likes it), call me. I would love to meet you.

    All the best!

Bill Schmearer: Just had a chance to read your post. “SHE” didn’t like it, nor did the 3 other adults with us…that said, the 5, 8 and two 14 year olds thought the joint was great.

    Thanks for reading…

I consider myself a self-proclaimed “Food Specialist”. I can appreciate people not being into the whole fondue concept, cooking your food, etc. as compared to other dining establishments. It is different, its FONDUE. Those of you on the fence, give it a chance. It is a unique experience.

The classic Swiss Cheese Fondue is delicious, and the wine menu is extensive and perfect for cheese lovers. The entree menu offers everything from seafood, meats, poultry and pork. Big Night Out includes salad, cheese fondue and entree for two plus chocolate fondue. My husband and I have been stuffed before dessert, but who can say No to melted chocolate??

It’s rare in S. FL to go anywhere to eat where you are not rushed. The Melting Pot of Boca is by far, my favorite MP location. Owner Bill has a seasoned staff and provides a cozy, warm romantic place to take your time and dine, especially upstairs. I can agree I would not want to be seated next to a family with a table kids if I was on a romantic date. But they do a pretty good job at accommodating seating requests if you just ask when you make a reservation. They are always coming up with special themes and ways to dine on a budget (check website). The restaurant has contributed in many community events and fundraisers. Call me sentimental, I love this place.

Hey Jeff, got to agree with your take on The Melting Pot. My daughter had a 10th birthday at the Boca spot a number of years ago and all of her friends really enjoyed the whole experience. The handful of adults who were there didn’t care for shall we say the experience. It’s a cute idea, but not something that an adult is really going to jump hoops to do.
    Thanks.

We have lived in Boca Raton for over 25 years. When the kids were younger we frequented The Melting Pot because the kids had fun. Over the years I can’t recall even one single time that any adult friends have ever suggested going to this restaurant. It is pure novelty for kids. Not really a restaurant that I would think that adults would voluntary go to without children.

Jeff, check your site every day. Enjoy your writing style and picks. You call them like you see them without all the bs that other reviewers throw in. Also really enjoy comment sections and the fact that you respond to those hwo write you.

This past Friday the Palm Beach Post gave the Palm Beach location “A” for food and “A” for service.
I’m with you on this one. How does a food critic give such a rating? Any ideas?

Jeff – I read and admire your reviews so to you and the other detractors of fondue, I can only say, to each, his own. My friends and I use the fondue occasion as some folks use golf or bridge – as a excuse to get together and talk while doing something with our hands and minds. It’s fun, for us. Love it … and like the Melting Pot. I guess that it’s a cultural thing.

Thanks for all your good work. Have a great day!

    Hey Jeff,

Love your reviews. Have to agree with Putar about The Melting Pot. Have been a customer for a long time. It’s always was more about the experience for us.

Just went to the one in Boca Raton again, 10 of us, all adults. We spent 3 hours and had a blast. They had this $30 Lobster special and some great wine specials. Service was great. Thanks again for your opinions!

My wife and I dined at the Boca Melting Pot last year. My wife complained about the portions and they served us three more slivers of beef. We left hungry and went out for a burger and salad. We had to try it once. Only way I would go back was if someone else was paying… and I could go out afterwards…

Our family had a nice time there, if not just because of the atmosphere of the place and the nice conversations. I do agree that it’s a bit of a waste of time, though… it’s worse than shelling crabs. Even after THAT I feel like I worked five times as much as I ate.

My first fondue experience, but I left hungry. An interesting concept and I can see how this would be a good place to take a date. Food quality is good, but c’mon, Feed me, man!
