Cantina Cabo (Boca Raton)

If at first you don’t succeed, try try again.

Cantina Cabo is a “Casual Mexican” joint located in Boca Raton. The owners of Cantina Cabo also own 3 Mexican joints in NYC and Cabana Las Palmas (West Palm Beach) and Caba ElRoy (Delray Beach).

How they got here…about a year ago, Cantina Cabo’s owners opened a “semi-upscale” seafood joint named Fulton & Front in Boca Raton. The joint failed miserably…  it was recently remodeled and converted into Cantina Cabo which opened a few weeks ago.

If you are looking for… a good (now who would look for a bad?)-casual-reasonably priced Mexican joint…Cantina Cabo is for you. The menu is loaded (here is where 3 years of high school and 2 years of college Spanish pays off) aperitivos, ensaladas, fajitas, tacos, enchiladas, rellenos, quesadillas y burritos.

In a recent “taste-test”..steak fajitas, beef tacos, shredded chicken enchiladas, char-grilled salmon and sauteed shrimp all did just fine.

Cantina Cabo is open Monday-Thursday 11:30am-10pm, Friday 11am-11pm, Saturday noon-11pm and Sunday noon-10pm.

jeffeats, ate at Cabo last week. food was very good and the prices reasonable. there aren’t too many mex restaurants in the area, so this one should do very well.

Got to Cabo at 7:45 pm tonight. there was a 1 1/2 wait for a table. somebody must be doing something right. didn’t wait but will be back for another try.

Gave this one a try last night. Very good food. Very pleasant waitress and prices not bad at all.

My wife and I sat next to you at
    Cabo tonight (1/12/09). You
noticed that we liked the food!!
Since moving from NYC, it’s been
hard to find good Mexican. I
think we just did; and found a
food website to help us find
other good joints in the future.

    Thanks for stopping to talk!

Joe: Just had a chance to read your post. It was a pleasure meeting you and your wife. Glad you enjoyed Cantina Cabo. I am looking forward to your future feedback on some of my other joint-picks.

    Thanks for reading…

  6. Sorry jeff, had chicken and steak fajitas and the food is average at best. very bland taste. nice looking restaurant and nice enough service but nothing special here.

  7. Joan says...

I agree with the above! Food was bland
And I mean all the food (I tasted the other
Entrees at my table even the rice and beans)
Thought décor was a bit sparse and the
Close proximity to tables was too tight! On
the other hand, prices were reasonable
And service was great! The manager
Was involved and walking around making
Sure everything was taken care of. P.s.
My steak fajitas were tough! I could get
    better Fajitas at Chili’s!

    not good.
    waste of money.

matt: Just had a chance to read your post. I also checked-out your website Bite Of Boca and enjoyed your reviews on Pastrami Queen and Ben’s. The site kind-of-fizzed out after just two writeups. Keep at out, it read real good.

    Thanks for reading…
