Sieng House (Boca Raton)

*****  Sieng House, 1001 SW 2nd Avenue, Boca Raton, Florida 33432 (561) 447-0807.

Strange…very strange…very-very strange…a Chinese restaurant that is CLOSED ON SUNDAY.

Anyway…tried  Sieng House the other day and I have to tell you…that this “no frills” and I do mean “no frills” joint serves some heavy-duty delicious food.

Sieng House is located in a small strip-center in Boca Raton. Maybe there are 8 booths and 4 tables…the kitchen is “out in the open” so you see everything that is going on. This joint’s decor/feel/food… reminded me of several of my NYC Chinatown favorites. I am warning you… Sieng House’s decor makes your neighborhood Chinese restaurant look like the Taj Mahal.

Now for the “test” (this was a party of six)…wonton soup, egg roll, bbq ribs, steamed dumplings, general tso’s chicken, shrimp in lobster sauce, cashew chicken, pepper steak, shrimp chop suey, moo shu pork, pork fried rice…Let me start by saying, that I will definitely be back. The food was very good. There were all kinds of specials and combination plates. The prices were neighborhood Chinese joint prices. The service was “mom & pop” and very pleasant.

Sieng House is one of the better NYC “style” Chinese joints that I have eaten in South Florida. Like I said earlier, Sieng House is closed on Sunday…which seems real-strange to those of us who grew up in the 5-boroughs during the 1950s-60s-70s because (at least in my neighborhood) Sunday night was Chinese Night.

Anyway…I highly recommend this restaurant. By the way, Sieng House which doesn’t use msg, is open Monday-Saturday 11:30am-9pm.

  1. Haven’t been here in a couple of years because I moved. But I use to eat there at least once a month for 4 years. The food is very good. One of the best Chinese restaurants.

I’ve been there twice when loud arguments broke out amond the family members working there. Probably the only Chinese restaurant on the East coast closed on Sunday. Good food. Especially like the eggrolls.

Just got back from eating there. Egg rolls good. Ribs nothing special. General Tso’s chicken pieces way to big and not tender. Won’t be Back.
